Rigas historical surroundings of previous Art Nouveau lifestyles seem marred by the stark contrast seen with the communist remnants. The architecture may be one of the most elaborate and intricate of the Nouveau era but the cites atmosphere seems to be steeped with hushed resentment of the swift and harsh occupation of Russia during the Soviet Union era. The beauty of the architecture is still undeniable as a spectator.
